When Yellow Changes into Green – Israeli Autumn

Autumn is here and so is the green

It started raining last week, first up north, in the Upper Galilee and around the Sea of Galilee (that’s where we need it most – the lake is in an urgent need of fresh water) and slowly came closer and closer to the center. Its been raining on and off in Tel Aviv for the last couple of days and even in the Negev the very dry soil got its share after a long summer. Rain in Israel is fun, it’s nothing like European rain….The sky don’t get dark for more than 15 minutes and after a short shower its blue again, the air is clean and this fresh aroma spreads all around.

This lovely photo by Chanan Getraide was taken in the Northern Negev and it beautifully demonstrates how some parts of the Israeli desert turns green every year during the winter. Plus, October and November bring with them not only the first rain but also the most amazing sunsets. If you live in a very green country and that’s not what you are looking for in a holiday destination, keep in mind that Eilat, the “Fun in the Sun” city at the southern tip of Israel stays sunny and dry all year around and you could be sitting by the beach there, right now, at 30 Celsius degrees…with a Margarita in you hand. Cheers…
