The only Olympic Record Israel is going to make is…

Not without its share of world wide controversy, the Olympic Games will soon storm into our lives. Israel is sending a tiny group of athletes, most – or all of them, weren’t born in Israel (thank god for the massive Russian Immigration). We have no expectations this time, an Olympic medal – no matter how esoteric – is simply out of our reach this year. But hay, that’s OK, at least we took the gold medal at the Mathematics Olympics for high school students that took place in Madrid on Sunday. In fact, Israeli students got to the second and third places too (the Russian Immigration, did we mention?).

Considering our poor prospects in the Beijing Games and our fantasies of being cool and not merely math-geeks, we have decided to hold in Israel the Tortoise Olympics. Take a look at this sweet clip from the Safari in Ramat Gaan (15 min from the center of Tel Aviv). Its not a big safari but if you are in Israel on a summer vacation with your children, the Safari should be on your list of attractions.

In case the safari is not your thing, Israel has a wide selection of National Parks and you can enjoy the local wildlife as well as the beauty of visitors, such as European birds crossing the Israeli sky on their way to Africa (for winter). Who knows, maybe this Olympics clip will spark an idea for your own Eco tour of Israel or an active journey across the Holy Land.

PS – The sound is crap on this video, so in case you were wondering the Israeli tortoise broke the Olympic record that day (for their kind). They ran at the amazing speed of one kilometer per hour.

Enjoy Israel’s Eco Tourism, National Parks and Natural Beauty
