A small sin and such a pleasure – Israeli Ice Cream

Just last week TimeOut Tel Aviv published it’s list of top ice cream places in Tel Aviv and Jaffa. The magazine compered 21 ice cream shops and using three sharped palate referees (chef, conditor and the magazine’s restaurant critique writer) chose the best out of them. I agree with the overall picture although Tel Aviv’s most popular ice cream place – IceBerg (108 Ben Yehuda st), didn’t make it to the final four and that’s a beat strange.

The championship went to Papa Aldo, (107 Iben Gabirol st) and that’s not that surprising… its well known as a fantastic ice cream and if you are travelling through the city, make sure you include this attraction in your beach vacation. Second and third places in the tournament went to Vanila (98 Iben Gabirol st) and Tartofu (25 Shabazi st). I’ve never eaten in those (not a big ice cream eater any more) but I trust the opinion of Yuval Job HaRagil from TimeOut Magazine… Baucho (85 King George st) came in fourth – again, excellent ice cream and strongly recommended, as is Bravissimo (4 HaArbaa’ st) which was the last on the top five list. The next three places went to Shaked (Hangar 7, tel Aviv port), Jaffa Ice cream (11 Oley Zion st, Jaffa) and Dr Leck (8 Nahum Goldman st, Jaffa).

Like I mentioned, a summer vacation in israel will not be complete without tasting the local ice cream, it’s fresh and original (some tastes will simply blow your mind) and soooo tasty. A chilled creamy ball of ice cream….Yami, that’s just what I need. And don’t worry about it, Israelis love their ice cream, you’ll be able to find good quality ice cream every where you go, in Jerusalem, Eilat or Haifa

brake the diet for a day and indulge on Israeli Ice Cream
